Knox County Court Update: May 29, 2023

 Remember: Everyone charged with a penal offense has the right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty according to law in a public trial at which he has had all the guarantees necessary for his defense.


FELONY CASES

NEW CHARGES

May 22, 2023

  • Jose C. Lemus, 34, Galesburg, was charged with class 3 felony meth possession under 5 grams.

  • Riley D. McLean, 18, Kewanee, was charged with class 4 felony criminal damage to government property under $500.

  • In a second case, McLean was charged with class 3 felony aggravated battery/public place.

May 24, 2023

  • Stanley A. Mabry, 68, Galesburg, was charged with class 3 felony criminal damage to government property over $500.

  • Colby A. Murphy, 27, Galesburg, was charged with class 2 felony aggravated domestic battery/strangle and misdemeanor domestic battery/bodily harm.

  • Austin D. Sundberg, 23, Galesburg, was charged with two counts of class 2 felony possession of a firearm by a felon and class 3 felony possession of a firearm with defaced serial number.

May 25, 2023

  • Seth J. Mackey, 20, Knoxville, was charged with class 4 felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor DUI/drugs.

  • Heaven L. Sundberg, 24, Galesburg, was charged with class X felony armed violence, class 3 felony meth possession under 5 grams, and class 4 felony aggravated fleeing and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

  • Jonathan W. Straughter, 30, Galesburg, was charged with class 2 felony possession of a stolen vehicle and failure to report crash with injury, and class 4 felony crash causing injury.

  • Steven L. Wallace, 28, Galesburg, was charged with class X felony armed violence and class 3 felony possession of a firearm by a felon and meth possession under 5 grams.

  • Jonathan R. Zefo, 22, Knoxville, was charged with class X felony armed violence and class 1 felony mfg/delivery of cocaine/analog between 1-15 grams.

WARRANTS SERVED

May 23, 2023

  • Bryan D. Peters, 39, Galesburg, was served a warrant on a class 3 felony charge of retail theft over $300. The charge was filed Apr. 13.

May 25, 2023

  • Jason E. Brown, 38, Galesburg, was served a warrant on charges of class 4 felony aggravated fleeing and misdemeanor reckless driving. The charges were filed Jan. 23.

  • Ashton C. Kaden, 22, Galesburg, was served a warrant on a class 3 felony charge of violating the sex offender registry. The charge was filed May 15.

DISPOSITIONS

May 22, 2023

  • Deandre L. Lawson, 34, West Peoria, had charges of class 1 felony mfg/delivery of cocaine/analog between 1-15 grams, and two counts of class 4 felony possession of a controlled substance dropped. The charges were filed Mar. 21.

  • Robert J. Nelson, 41, Galesburg, pleaded guilty to class 4 felony aggravated DUI and was sentenced to 180 days jail and 2 years conditional discharge. Charges of class 2 felony DUI and two minor traffic charges were dismissed. The charges were filed Aug. 18, 2022.

May 23, 2023

  • Taylor J. Marshall, 22, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor vendor fraud (reduced from class 3 felony vendor fraud) and was sentenced to 24 months conditional discharge and ordered to pay $4,830 in restitution. Two counts of an unlisted class 2 felony charge and a class 3 felony charge of forgery were dismissed. The charges were filed Sept. 3, 2021.

  • Keith C. Mitchell, 37, New Boston, had two counts of class 3 felony theft over $500 dropped. The charges were filed July 22, 2022.

May 24, 2023

  • Courtney P. Bell, 34, Memphis, Tennessee, pleaded guilty to class 4 felony aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and was sentenced to 70 days jail/35 days credit and 18 months conditional discharge. Charges of class 2 felony possession of a stolen firearm and misdemeanor resisting an officer were dismissed. The charges were filed June 13, 2022.

  • Ashley N. England, 29, Galesburg, had a class 2 felony charge of felon/escape peace officer dropped. The charge was filed Mar. 10.

May 25, 2023

  • Bradley A. Canier, 34, Knoxville, pleaded guilty to class 3 felony meth possession under 5 grams and class 4 felony resisting an officer and was sentenced to 90 days jail/90 days credit and 18 months conditional discharge. A misdemeanor charge of obstructing identification was dismissed. The charges were filed Mar. 3.

  • James A. Rogers, 46, Galesburg, had a charge of class 3 felony violation of the sex offender registry dismissed. The charge was filed Mar. 30.

  • In a second case, Rogers pleaded guilty to class 3 felony violation of the sex offender registry and was sentenced to 30 days jail/12 days credit, and 2 years conditional discharge. The charge was filed Apr. 20.

  • Edward L. Fields, 39, Henderson Grove, was charged with violating a stalking/no contact order.

  • Brandon T. McLaren, 30, Galesburg, was charged with violating an order of protection and criminal damage to property under $500.

  • Tyrell L. Patton, 24, Peoria, was charged with theft under $500

  • Madison R. Pickrell, 23, Knoxville, was charged with criminal trespass/building.

  • Bryant Rucker Jr., 22, Galesburg, was charged with retail theft under $300.

  • Bradley P. Smith, 30, Galesburg, was charged with criminal trespass/building.

  • Ashley N. Wilmoth, 33, Galesburg, was charged with criminal damage to property under $500.

  • Patrick D. Jefferson, 34, Galesburg, was charged with retail theft under $300.

  • Nicholle E. Terpening, 34, Galesburg, was charged with criminal damage to property under $500.

  • Myneka A. Warner, 31, Galesburg, was charged with battery/physical contact.

  • Crystal A. Howard, 45, Wataga, was charged with battery/physical contact.

  • Emilio J.L. Lemus, 33, Galesburg, was charged with violating an order of protection.

  • Chaise M. Waison, 22, Galesburg, was charged with retail theft under $300.

  • Scott E. Newman, 58, Marquette Heights, was charged with revoked/suspended registration but the charge was dropped the same day.

  • Stevan G. Newman-Davis, 40, Springfield, was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis.

  • Paul Stingley, 30, Galesburg, was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis.
